Thanksgiving is about two things… food and family. Truth be told, when gathered around the table, it doesn’t really matter what you’re putting on your plate if you’re laughing, reminiscing, and just being around people you love. It’s no surprise that we love this about Thanksgiving… I mean, we literally chose to make our lives about families, memories, and commemorating the love that exists between people. So in honor of this delicious holiday, we want to say THANKS to all of you for letting us do what we love, while sharing in, witnessing and experiencing your families’ affection for one another.
I seriously love my job… I love getting to do my hobby as my job, and I really love the people I get to meet. Last Sunday I traveled to Elyria to photograph a large group who wanted photos for no occasion, no reunion, just to celebrate the fact that they are together often, love to be together, and had never celebrated that with photos. I was so thrilled to be a part of this. I have a large family, and we too spend a lot (maybe too much) time together, so I totally got it. This group was a blast! I probably verged on unprofessional… especially when I sat down on Gramma’s lap, but it was such a great experience working with this family. They even invited me to join them for brunch, and I was sorry to not be able to join them. Thanks to everyone in this gang for starting my day off great– I can’t wait to see them again when they come in to see the rest.
Sometimes my favorite look for a family photo session is the most classic. Here’s an example of just that! This black and white family photo is no-frills… just the family together on a sofa, taken in front of a window. They all wore solid color clothes, and looked so poised while still allowing their personalities to come through in the image. I cannot wait to see this photograph displayed as a large gallery wrapped canvas! So when you’re planning your next family photo shoot, don’t over-think it! Just be who you are, and let that be what I capture…
To all the mom’s out there, who allow me to do what I love every day… Thank you for giving me the opportunity to capture photos of the ones you love most.
… Happy Mother’s Day!
