Cleveland Senior (Citizen) Photography

We’re always posting about Senior Photography here at Kim Ponsky Photography and why not? Graduating from High School and moving on is a huge milestone that deserves to be celebrated and captured. But the other day when we sent out some information out about our Senior Portraits we got an interesting message from a long time client and friend that really intrigued us. She said that when she first saw the title, “Senior Photography” she thought we were talking about photographing senior citizens. It excited her and made her think that so often we take the time for family photographs when the kids are little or when they’re headed off to college but then what? We often don’t celebrate our families enough when they get older and many of us wish we had more photos of and with our aging parents and grandparents. So when we heard this we immediately jumped at the chance to photograph the cutest 88 year old we knew who just happened to be in Cleveland for just a few days. She came to the studio and in just a few minutes we captured lots of personality! It made her feel special and these photos are headed to her children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren scattered throughout the states. ¬†Undoubtedly this impromptu photo session will be adored and cherished for years to come. ¬†Grab your favorite “Senior” and head in to the studio for a few special shots.

Kim Ponsky is Calling It Quits

After years of photographing children and families, Kim has decided to pack up her studio and take a completely new direction… Landscape Photography. Yup, for those of you that know Kim she is a huge fan of all things Ansel Adams. She is really looking forward to capturing Cleveland’s scenic parks and city views. Her decision came after a long day of newborn session mishaps. The first session left Kim covered in baby pee, the second left her with a smudge of poop on her favorite cashmere sweater, and when things couldn’t possibly get worse… they did. The third and final session was a slightly older, teething baby boy and he might have gently nibbled and scared Kim’s arm. Long story short, Kim is ready for a switch up.

Kim wants you to all know that she has truly enjoyed spending time with your family and watching your children grow. She has set up a referral hotline to help your family find their new photographer, the number is 1-800-April-Fools!

Amazing Outdoor Autumn Photos!

For the fourth year, I got the treat of spending an afternoon taking outdoor family photos with Mr. R and Miss E (and their parents, of course)! These kids are definitely some of my favorite people around! They are so cute, and so sweet– and always excited to play and take pictures! Taking advantage of the extraordinary beauty of the autumn leaves, we explored areas of Chagrin were every turn provided a new picturesque backdrop! You just need to watch out for Mr. Water Snake, right guys?!?

So much fun playing in the leaves!

So much fun playing in the leaves!

Miss E treated me to an original song she composed for me. I think it should be #1!!!

New Perspective for Pregnancy Photos

During a recent pregnancy session in our studio, where the baby is going to be named for his Dad, I came up with a cool idea for a shot– After I took it, I said to the couple with glee: “Oooh! Regardless of what other shots we take today, I know that’s going to be my favorite!” … I was right! We got tons of other great traditional and fine-art portraits, but this one was definitely my top pick! Between the positioning, perspective, and the dramatic lighting, it looks like an image of the Solar System!
