A Preview of the Preview

This past weekend was a special one here at Kim Ponsky Photography… I got to photograph Sharon’s wedding!  I’m working away on the sneak peek blog post, but I couldn’t let a day go by without putting something up here… so here’s one of my many favorites from that awesome day!  This classic wedding day portrait looks like it was done in a photo studio, but it was the fantastic wall of windows in Sharon’s parents’ house that gave us the beautiful light for this shot.

Taylor & Zach’s Shaker Heights Wedding

This past weekend was a mix of sun, clouds and rain… but the skies cleared at just the right time for this couple’s Shaker Heights wedding.  The whole day was breezy, and I’m not just talking about the weather!  The bride’s smiling face and carefree demeanor while getting ready set the pace for the rest of the day… my job was easy… I just had to capture it all.  Taylor and Zach were married at her family’s church, Gesu Parish, and from there, we drove the short distance to Taylor’s alma mater/workplace (and mine!), Hathaway Brown School before we returned to Shaker Heights Country Club for the reception.  It was so great having all of the photography locations relevant to the couple.  It makes their wedding photos so much more personal.   This couple wasn’t into performing for the camera, or creating shots that they had seen somewhere else… they were just themselves, and they photographed beautifully.  The wedding day was as relaxed as Taylor and Zach themselves, and it was a pleasure to get to be a part of it.  Here’s a preview of some of their wedding photos!

Jessica and Josiah’s Picture Perfect Wedding

…5-6-7-8!  This former cheerleader and her football kicking hubby were our champs last weekend when we photographed their Cleveland wedding.  Yes, many of our poses began with that countdown to get that spunky bride ready, and I had so much fun doing it.

Jess loved her wedding (especially her cake!)…  All brides should, but not all show it through their exuberance all day long.  It was such a pleasure and honor to get to be the one to capture the day for her.  This was the All-American wedding day, from the glowing couple to their beaming families. The bride’s dad helped her with her shoes, her brother teared up when he saw her for the first time, and the groom surprised his dad with a replica of his wedding band.  The pastor cared for this pair, and it was evident in his words, and I wanted the toasts to go on forever– definitely the best I’ve ever heard!

This girl was also all about her pictures!!  She even gave me permission to stand on her dad’s shoulders during the ceremony if it meant getting the right shot!  Lucky for dad, the beautiful church gave us plenty to work with and saved him!  It was a long day of photos, but I could’ve stayed and continued to photograph this pair forever… they were so comfortable, so natural, and so expressive… and it shows in their photos.  Here are a few of the MANY shots from Jess and her main squeeze (get it guys?? Freshly squeezed Juice? — well, I crack myself up!).

Wedding Album Slideshow

You may remember the amazing pictures from Alexis and Sergio’s engagement session (click here if you missed them), or the preview of their gorgeous wedding photos (click here to see them). Now you can watch a video presentation of their wedding album! We love this album because it perfectly captures how romantic and beautiful their wedding day was. Alexis and Sergio will be able to relive each moment of their special day every time they look through their album, and we are so glad to be a part of that.

Make sure to adjust the settings so that you can watch the video in HD… Enjoy!

Never Miss a Moment

When I photograph weddings, I am always looking to capture the magic of the day.  The flowers are beautiful, the reception breathtaking, and the bride always turns heads… but to me, the real magic of the day are the moments that can be so easily missed if you’re not looking.  It’s the emotion, the joy, the sentiment, and the love.  These are my favorite parts of the day.  In this world of phone photography, however, the need to “get the shot” can prevent friends and family from really seeing all that goes on.  Cameras in ready position when the bride is revealed, or makes her long anticipated walk down the aisle obscure not only guests eyes from seeing the whole picture, but prevent the bride from seeing the misty-eyed smiles of her guests.  Now, I’m there to capture them, to preserve them, and to show the couple what their wedding was really all about…  but the smile on my face and the tears that are so often in my eyes when I photograph a wedding are because of these moments… so make sure you don’t miss them!  Trust the photographers to capture the day, and experience it… you won’t regret it, because it really is something to see…

Rachel and Jeff’s Ritz Carlton wedding was full of these moments.  From the first look, through the Hora– the moments tell the story.
