… Happy Mother’s Day!

We do a lot of newborn photography… they are long sessions, filled with poop, pee, and pouting… but we love every second of it!  The newborns that come into our studio for their first photo shoots are so innocent, so perfect, and just delicious.  That’s what we aim to capture through our photography.  We want to show not only their tiny parts, but to preserve this stage that just goes by so fast.  We photograph these new little people within their first two weeks of life… after that point, their bones are more developed, and so are their personalities and opinions!  Teeny tiny babies will allow us to comfort them to sleep, and enable us to mold them into the perfect positions to show just how flexible and mushy they are.

This week we got the chance to photograph this little angel.  Baby L came to see us while she was still in her mommy’s belly, so we were thrilled to get to meet her for real!  She was about 9 days old, and pretty much slept like a baby the whole time.  Even when she woke up to join the party, she simply snuggled up in the warm blankets, and continued to perform.  Here are some of my favorite shots from her newborn photo session… there are many more, but I’m saving them for her mom and dad!

First birthdays, Father’s Day, and of course Christmas… these are just some of the most common occasions that bring people into the studio for a photo session.  But there are so many other milestones that can be a great excuse to update your family photos, or create the perfect gift.  Who loves the little ones in your life more than their Grandmother??  NOBODY!  And there’s not much else she’d rather have than photos of her most valued treasures…

Today happens to be my mom’s birthday — Happy Birthday, Mom!  My sister-in-law brought her boys into my studio this week to give their Grammy a gift she will surely love… Here’s a peek at her birthday surprise!

One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to know the kids I photograph, and getting to watch them grow up. There are many families that we work with year after year, and I can’t wait to see them and reconnect. We also get the fun of having the real little ones come see us numerous times within their first year. That’s when the real magic happens– they transform from session to session. Every time they come in for their photo shoot, there are new tricks, new expressions, and new developmental milestones that we’ll capture and chronicle.
Baby S came in for her newborn photo shoot back in November. She was pretty alert for most of her session, but then fell asleep and was a perfect princess. Today she came back to see us for her 6-month photos, and we had so much fun! She was sitting, and all smiles! While she looks and acts so different, it was easy to see that she was the same baby when she made some of the same expressions debuted at 2 weeks. I can’t wait to watch this little peanut continue to grow up in front of my camera.  Here’s a peek back at Baby S’s newborn photos, and a preview of today’s 6-month photo shoot!
