Do you ever walk into work one day and just feel dumb? I’m sure at least some of you have. I recently had one of those days. Everything seemed to be just fine until around 11am. We had a shoot scheduled for a 3 month old girl and her 2 year old brother, but let’s just say I wasn’t convinced that he was just 2. I was completely dumbfounded when I found out that he was able to count by even numbers, odd numbers, by fives, by tens, could spell, tell time and read. I mean, I know times have changed, but last I checked kids couldn’t do those things until they were about 7. Just to brag about him a bit more he is not only smart, he is very social and cute. What more could a girl ask for? Oh right, he’s only 2…about 23 years too young.

Late last month, our team spent the day with blushing brides-to-be at the “Ever After Bridal Extravaganza”. The venue, Executive Caterers of Landerhaven was filled with beautiful gowns, dashing floral arrangements, and of course delicious wedding eats. All of Greater Cleveland’s finest wedding vendors were there, showcasing their specialties, and hoping to catch the eyes of the brides.
The Kim Ponsky Photography Team had the same intentions. We wanted to WOW every guest that stopped by our booth. During the weeks leading up to Ever After we prepared, gathered, printed, ordered, organized, and purchased any and everything that would make our presence strong and our experience tangible. We took the concept of a “booth” and turned it into a first class wedding photography lounge.
Our 10’x10’ space overflowed with bridal decadence. An overstuffed white linen sofa with silken turquoise pillows greeted our guests and enticed them to sit and peruse our wedding albums. Freshly brewed chocolaty mochas and comforting chai teas were served to help our decision-laden couples unwind. Classic white hydrangeas and gleefully green roses garnished our tables and filled the air with irresistible aromas. Oversized, dramatically positioned custom photographs surrounded the space, creating a visual masterpiece. It was the perfect calm within the tulle storm.
In addition to indulging the senses, we offered our savvy couples show-stopping promotions. The event was a huge success and the crowd was simply fabulous. Since the event we have had several inquiries. Unfortunately, many of the weddings are on the same days, and we operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Many of you may know that I teach at Hathaway Brown School… Photo, of course!
Well, yesterday my two lives crossed paths when one of my Advanced Photo students came into the studio for her senior pictures! It was so fun getting to photograph her– not only because she’s gorgeous, but because over the past year and a half I’ve gotten to know her, and was able to use this to increase her comfort level, which led to even better photos! Plus, if she didn’t listen to my posing suggestions, I could threaten her with an F! Oh, I’m just kidding!!
