We are all familiar with the look of white shirts and jeans against a white studio backdrop for family pictures… While still a classic and timeless look, the opposite also provides an equally, if not more appealing look. Yesterday I had a large family in the studio… They were together for a celebration, but used this as an opportunity to update their family portraits. We captured portraits of each kid, the individual families, as well as the whole gang together. For these, we went with black shirts and jeans, against the black backdrop. This look takes the clothes and much of the pose out of the equation, and makes the photograph completely about the faces in it. Expressions become more prominent, and there is a striking contrast of the bright eyes and smiles against the dark background. So, bored of the same old look? Consider a twist on the traditional for your next family photo shoot!
