As her photographer, I got to be among the very few people who got to watch this little princess grow up during her first year photo shoots.  The first year of her life may have been mostly in quarantine, but that didn’t stop the smiles during this natural light photo session at the family barn.  Just like her big brother’s first birthday photo shoot, we worked by the barn’s big windows to provide the most gorgeous light for the images.  Unlike her brother, however, this little girl was not a fan of her cake… in fact, we had to pour cereal on it to get her close to it!  That was a first!

It is always important to me that big siblings don’t feel left out, even if the spotlight isn’t on them for the majority of the photo shoot, so in addition to the family photos that we took, I made sure to get some special pictures of Henry during the session.

Working as an on-location photographer always allows me to explore new ways to shoot, use new textures, backgrounds and challenges me to approach each photo shoot individually.  Since Charlotte’s session was done at the same time and the same place (and the same time of year) as Henry’s we ultimately worked in the same areas, but the images are uniquely hers.  Look below for some of my favorite images from this first birthday natural light photo session.
