General Questions

• WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?

Whether a toddler or a bride, our approach to photography remains the same. Our “candid-portrait” style of photography provides you with images that truly reflect the personality and essence of those in front of the camera. We feel strongly that you should look like YOU in your photos—no awkward poses or fake smiles… just you and your life as you want to remember it.

• HOW SOON WILL WE SEE OUR PHOTOS?

Our standard turn-around time for your photo session is 2-3 weeks. At this time, we’ll invite you into the studio to view your image presentation and place your order. Before you come in for this appointment, we recommend that you consider what you need photos for (a particular location in your home, a gift for a loved one). Planning ahead will help in the selection process. We ask that all decision makers attend the ordering session. Children are always welcome, but it may be in your best interest to schedule a time where you can come alone. This session typically lasts about 1 hour. Once an order is placed, it is again roughly 3 weeks until you’re holding your photos in your hands!

• WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

I shoot with Nikon’s highest end cameras and lenses… They have superior image quality, and capabilities to rarely miss the shot!

• HOW DO YOU LIGHT YOUR IMAGES?

Whenever possible I prefer to use natural light. This is not always feasible, so I have various lights and flashes that create the visual effect I’m after.

• HOW DOES THE ORDERING PROCESS WORK?

Orders are placed at the ordering session. Additional orders may be placed in person, by phone or email. We encourage you to let us help you figure out how best to use your photos so they fit your needs and complement your home. Payment is due in full when an order is placed. Prices are subject to change without notice. If prices increase, quoted prices will be honored for up to 60 days from the session date. We’re always happy to provide a proof of a composite print, or a digital adjustment to an image, but we spend a lot of time on these, so we ask for a minimum of a 50% deposit before proofing is provided.

• CAN OUR IMAGES BE PRINTED IN BLACK AND WHITE?

Of course! All of our images are captured digitally, and will first be presented to you in color. We are happy to show you a preview of any image in BW while you’re in the studio. We also offer customized image enhancements, which greatly enrich the image quality.

• DO YOU ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS?

Yes. We accept all major credit cards. We also accept checks and cash.

• DO YOU TRAVEL?

Absolutely! Some of my favorite session locations have been Greenwich, CT & Aspen, CO... Our service area is within 10 miles of our Cleveland office. Beyond this, distance/travel fees do apply. Distance/travel fees are non-refundable and are required at the time of booking. Please contact us for further details.

• HOW LONG DO YOU KEEP OUR IMAGES?

We keep your images indefinitely. They are archived and stored in multiple locations. Active client images are kept on site for 8 weeks, after which they moved to our off-site storage. Retrieving images once they are archived is subject to additional fees. Should we ever decide that we don’t want them anymore, we’ll be sure to let you know! While we do back up your files compulsively, we cannot account for the unknown lifespan of hard drives or changing technology… therefore the archival of your images is not guaranteed. We’ll do our best to keep your images safe, and while you can even purchase a copy of your image files for safe keeping, nothing has the longevity of the printed images, albums and wall art.

• WILL YOU TOUCH UP MY PHOTOS?

Digital capabilities allow for minor touch-ups, so there is no need to worry about a scratch, blemish or stain. While we do want to make you look your best, we reserve the right to refuse an editing request we deem excessive or unnatural.

• WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW?

The studio reserves the right to use images and/or reproductions for display, publications or other lawful purposes. All images remain the property of Kim Ponsky Photography, LLC and Kim Ponsky. All images are protected by U.S. Copyright Laws. Reproductions of any kind are strictly prohibited.
