I couldn’t help myself with that title… I mean, Rick’s a magician! He’s THE magician, and he is as kind as he is talented. We had a great time chatting about his work, his many endeavors in the entertainment industry, and everything else as we snapped away capturing updated headshots for his promotional materials.
Lately we’ve really been growing our corporate work, doing more headshots than in years past… and this session is a perfect example of why. What we love about portraiture is the ability to translate the character, the personality, and overall essence of the subject in an image. And while with kids, this provides an invaluable keepsake and memory, with corporate clients it allows the person to put in front of the world an image of themselves that portrays who they are, what they offer, and how they want to be seen.
Rick wears many hats in his professional life, and it was our goal to capture all of them during our photo shoot. He runs a entertainment booking agency, Cleveland Entertainers, a non-profit that helps kids earn money for their school through selling tickets to his performances with Magic Gives Back, and then there is the way many of us were first exposed to Rick Smith, Jr’s talent in the first place… his work as a magician and Guinness Book of World Record holding card thrower. So we took all of those facets of his work life, and provided as much variety in his images as he has in his career.
And a shout out to Gabriella, who held the dandelion while Rick threw cards at her!
